November Mix Part 5

Work took me away for a few days this week, but nothing could get in the way of me actually completing a full month’s worth of weekly mixes.  I’ll probably be bored of it by next week, short attention span and all that, so best enjoy this one while you can.

Back in 2014, after seeing Siobhan Wilson perform at Oran M’or in Glasgow, I coined the now frequently used (not at all) adverb voiceofanangelabulous, and I still stand by that.  Having released 2 eps, Glorified Demons in 2012, a self released and handmade cd, and Say It’s True in 2015 released by Reveal Records, There Are No Saints is Siobhan’s first full album and was released on Song, By Toad back in July.  Why’s it on a November mix?  Because I’ve only just got round to buying it, that’s why.  Siobhan has a voice and a talent for writing songs that make the hairs stand on end.  5th track on the album, Disaster and Grace epitomises this for me.  FFO hope and beauty in the world.

To keep @joelstupid happy on Twitter, 3rd track is World Well Lost, title track from Vancouver’s Shrouded Amps latest ep.  Jangly indie pop/rock at it’s best.

Analogue pop genius for track 4, in the form of When You’re Mine, the first track to be released from the Anglesea ep from Fascinations Grand Chorus.  Due for release December 8th, listen to this and fall in love with pop music again.

I’ve gone a bit poppy with this mix, so nice to finish with something a little noisier and experimental.  They Live To Thank You is taken from Rotten Interiors, a 7 track ep from Holiday Dryer released by the excellent Discontinuous Innovation Inc. from San Francisco.  Holiday Dryer are Max Nordile and Sam Lefebvre, that might be them in the picture or it might not.  All I know is I like it.  Available to download for $1.
