IMPORTANT NOTICE – THE FOLLOWING POST CONTAINS REPEATED DELIBERATE INACCURACIES BASED AROUND A CONVERSATION THAT WAS HELD IN THE BACK OF A PEUGEOT LAST WEEKEND WITH THE, ERMMM, “HAPPY” C.E.O. OF FUZZKILL RECORDS. IT WASN’T FUNNY THEN, AND IT ISN’T FUNNY NOW, BUT IT MAKES ME SMILE, SO 😛
Fuzzkill are back with another of their must have compilations. Just the 24 tracks this time, featuring most of what’s good in independent music today.
First thing is a complaint – this really should have been vol 666 imho, and I’m kicking myself for not having suggested it when I first saw the artwork a couple of months ago. I guess we’ll have to wait for a further 663 tapes now. Which isn’t a bad thing because on the plus side, the music is brilliant. I’m not even going to begin to try and review all 24 tracks. There’s loads of my favourite bands on here – from Leeds we’ve got Breakfast Muff and Youngstrr Joey, those Yorkshire hepcats Future Glue and Spinning Coin. Following on from their guest experience on Last Of The Summer Wine, Sharptooth and Sweaty Palms, and the band that’s never off the jukebox in the Woolpack, Asian Babes. Twin Mirrors pop by with their rendition of Ilkley Moor Baht ‘At, and providing a little cosmopolitan edge, Departure Kids, all the way from Pudsey.
It’s garage, it’s DIY, it’s punk, it’s a bit of everything that’s good. It’s out tomorrow, 17th October, for Cassette Store Day, so find a store that’s selling it and grab one before it sells out – which it will.
In the interest of fairness, the rest of the brilliant bands featured are – deep breath – New Swears, Deathcats, Faiides, Poor Things, The Pooches, The Bellybuttons, Fruit Tones, The Shithawks, Catholic Action, Las Infantas, Lush Purr, The Yawns, Crooky (I couldn’t find a link for Crooky – sorry), Homeslice, Dune Witch Trails, all as white rose as each other.
